Unlike solid structures which can relatively easily be modified by implementing final elements, modeling of casting process is much more complex, because it needs to include both, liquid and solid phase, as well as elements of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, elastomechanics and metallurgy (properties of alloy to be casted, crystallization mechanism, cast microstructure). Complex physical-chemical processes are described by differential equations for each element of fine structure, taking into consideration initial and limiting conditions defined through alloy properties, casting proves parameters, 3D model of cast geometry and of crucial significance in foundry, 3D model of pouring system, feeder and air vents system.
MAGMASOFT® is a modern tool of the foundrymen in finding improvement and optimization of casting processes, which allows testing of different technological execution of casting process, to avoid long-term verification of processes in practice. This shortens time necessary for development of new product, simultaneously optimizing production and achieving cost-savings. Simulation results are presented in three-dimensional (3D) graphic form. For instance: electronic control allows course of cast cavity filling, analysis of speed and pressure changes during mold filling.
MAGMASOFT® package is designed as a result of rich experience of experts all around the world, compiled in huge database, which can easily be used during technology verification in the foundry.
In addition to basic simulation module, MAGMA´s developed modules for all casting processes, thereby covering all sorts of technologies and materials (metal mold casting, sand mold casting, centrifugal casting, lost foam casting, high pressure casting, etc.). Different casting processes have special modules which enable additional calculations (for instance: segregation calculation, impact of convection to solidification, tension analysis, deformations, etc.).
MAGMA´s developed a new generation of foundry tools, quality improvement in foundry industry. These modules not only simulate „status quo“ condition but also propose optimal process data and construction designs, for instance: MAGMAfeedmarker (which automatically offers appropriate positions and dimensions of feeder), MAGMAgatemarker (optimizes pouring system) and MAGMAfrontier (able to monitor several objectives combined).
LOLA Institute is exclusive representative of company MAGMA GmbH from Germany for program package MAGMASOFT® for territory of Serbia and Montenegro. In addition to this, our company offers computer simulations with MAGMASOFT® program equipment and qualifying package users and ordering parties of simulation.
